Brief Description:
The Sony Site is located within the Youghiogheny River drainage system on a divide between two streams, one flowing north into Sewickley Creek and one flowing south into Jacobs Creek.  Chestnut Ridge, the final crest of the Allegheny Mountains, rises seven miles from the site and can be observed along the eastern horizon.  Archaeological investigations at the site took place between 1991 and 1994.

These investigations revealed the presence of a 7.2-acre Late Monongahela/Protohistoric town enclosed by a trench and double palisade walls.  Other identified components include Early and Middle Woodland occupations and a Drew Phase Monongahela hamlet.   Nearly half of the site was exposed during the archaeological excavations. A total of 85 house patterns were identified and 22,774 artifacts were recovered.
